Millennium Periolase MVP-7 Laser

Millennium Periolase MVP-7 Laser- minimally invasive treatment for periodontal diseaseThe Millennium Periolase MVP-7 laser is used in our office to offer our patients a minimally invasive alternative in the treatment of inflammatory periodontal disease. The Periolase MVP-7 is the only FDA approved laser able to claim the outcome of “new attachment” to previously diseased tooth root surfaces. LANAP is the acronym for this Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure achieved when using the Periolase MVP-7. Patients experience virtually no pain, swelling or bleeding as compared to conventional surgical periodontal therapy.

Sirona Galileos Cone Beam CT Scanner

Sirona Galileos Cone Beam CT scanner to view 3D images of patients jawsWe are one of only a few practices in Jacksonville to incorporate the Galileos 3-D Cone Beam CT (CBCT) system into the office. This allows Dr. Aguila to view three dimensional images of your jaw bone, identify vital structures, and also measure exact bony volumes prior to dental implant and periodontal surgery. This knowledge allows Dr. Aguila to be much more precise in the surgical procedures that he provides for his patients. The Galileos software also allows Dr. Aguila to properly assess and plan his dental implant cases and even perform “virtual” implant surgery before the actual surgical procedure takes place.

PRGF- Plasma Rich in Growth Factors

PRGF - Plasma Rich in Growth Factors to enhance and accelerate healing in patientsOur practice is the first periodontal and dental implant surgery practice in Jacksonville to offer the latest growth factor technology in bone and tissue regeneration: Plasma Rich in Growth Factors (PRGF Endoret).

What does the PRGF – Endoret technique involve?

When we suffer any injury, the human body releases proteins (cellular signals) to stimulate the process of repairing that injury. The PRGF Endoret technique isolates from the blood plasma these proteins which are responsible for wound healing and tissue regeneration. Once a therapeutic dose is applied to the treatment area, the repair process is enhanced and accelerated.

To carry out this process, it is necessary to draw a small amount of blood from the patient, from which the Plasma Rich in Growth Factors (PRGF)is obtained through a centrifuge spinning process. The plasma is the placed where healing or regeneration of tissue and bone is needed. With the presence of PRGF, recovery and the healing process speed up so the risk of infection or any other post-surgical complications is lessened. Using PRGF Endoret will guarantee a noticeable improvement and quicker healing.

All in all, PRGF Endoret optimizes recovery for our patients following periodontal or implant surgery.

Currently, this technique is being used with remarkable results in different fields of medicine such as oral and maxillofacial surgery, traumatology, burns, dermatology , opthamology, plastic surgery and general surgery.

Digital Radiography

Digital radiography of two dental implants- digital radiography exposes patients to much less radiation

Digital radiography requires only 5% of the radiation used for conventional radiography. It is also environmentally friendly because we no longer use chemicals to develop the conventional films.

Piezo Surgery & Ultrasonics

Piezo ultrasonic units are used in our office for more efficient debriding of periodontally involved teeth and safer cutting and/or removal of bone during periodontal or dental implant surgery.

Oral and Intravenous Conscious Sedation

A woman relaxed and resting, oral sedation pills, iv sedation and a woman wearing a breathing mask Patient comfort and safety are of utmost importance at our office.

Through his three-year Periodontics Residency after dental school, which included a rotation in Department of Anesthesiology at the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Aguila is fully trained and credentialed in both oral and intravenous conscious sedation.

We use the Criticare nGenuity 8100EP monitor in our office to ensure your safety. The monitor allows Dr. Aguila to maintain real-time assessment of your heart rhythm through an EKG, heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, breathing, and temperature while you are being sedated in our office. Additionally, Dr. Aguila and his staff are both ACLS and/or BLS certified.

The “Wand” (STA System)

The Wand STA system used to control and administer local anesthetic

Dr. Aguila is fully committed to making your visit to our office as pain free as possible thus he has incorporated the “Wand” for administering local anesthetic for his patients. The Wand is essentially a computer-controlled local anesthetic delivery system. The flow rate of the local anesthetic is precisely controlled by a computer. This means that the injection is guaranteed to be slow and steady and therefore comfortable. Most people who have had a bad experience with injections think that needles sting because the skin is pierced, but this is usually not so! Most often, the sting was caused because the anesthetic was fired in too quickly. Obviously, it is possible for the dentist to control the speed with a standard syringe, but the idea of the Wand is to take out the “human error”. This can be very reassuring for people with previous bad experiences. The Wand offers the advantage of precise control of flow rate and pressure and thus reliably producing a comfortable injection even in potentially more “difficult” areas like the palate, where the soft tissue is less elastic.

Ellman Radiosurgical Unit for Precision Surgery

Ellman Radiolase unit- provides advanced radio wave technology when performing on soft tissue

Dr. Aguila has incorporated the Ellman Radiolase unit, which delivers advanced radio wave technology providing outstanding surgical control, precision and versatility while performing a variety of soft tissue surgery. Clinical benefits versus the use of the conventional scalpel include reduced post-operative discomfort, minimal scar tissue formation, enhanced healing and excellent cosmetic results. The unit also coagulates soft tissue thus minimizing bleeding during surgical procedures.

Electronic Medical Records

The electronic medical records system used in our office allows us to manage our patient information in the most efficient manner possible and more importantly keep our patient information safe and secure.
